Currier & Ives: The New Best 50

In the 1930s, a small group of collectors made their selection of the “Best 50” Currier & Ives prints, both large folio and small folio.  In 1989, the American Historical Print Collectors Society took a second look at this project and asked its members to vote on their choices of the “New Best 50” large and small folio prints after reviewing over 7,000 prints published by Currier & Ives.  This book documents and illustrates in color all the prints in the new lists.  The book includes a scholarly article by Chris W. Lane, “A Comparison of the Original and New Best 50 Currier & Ives.  Some statistics and thought.”
